Session Descriptions

Starting with Canvas
Wednesday, Aug. 23, 10:00 - 11:00 AM (Fisher Colloquium, Hariri Bldg. or online Zoom link)
Presenter: Peter Janssens, CNDLS

This session will

  • provide information about the Canvas launch and adoption at Georgetown
  • present an introduction to the Canvas interface and core functionality to users who have not used the platform
  • highlight functional differences between Canvas and Blackboard.

Participants will

  • learn how to get content from Blackboard to Canvas
  • learn what the core Canvas tools are and how they can be used. Tools include the Calendar, the Inbox, Assignments, Grades, and Collaborations
  • identify ways to organize a course in Canvas using Modules and Pages
  • become aware of how students use Canvas to access course content and do course work

Designing a Course in Canvas
