This process can be used when an instructor needs to migrate more than course files to Canvas.

Please review the Canvas migration page for clarification on what does/does not migrate from Blackboard to Canvas.

Following this process will create an "Export" zip file of your Blackboard course site. Importing this zip file into Canvas will exclude student activity and may require an extensive clean up of your Canvas course site.

Below are some example course content that can be included in a Course Export file:

Content Areas

Announcements

Assignments

Files and Folders

Discussion Forums

Tests, Surveys, and Pools

Things to note:

  • Do NOT use the Safari browser for this process (you can use Chrome or Firefox).
  • Do NOT unzip or delete items from zip file, as then the contents will not import correctly.
  • The zip file may not be usable or readable until imported into Canvas or another Learning Management System.
  • Student submissions and activity will be excluded from the zip file.
